Happy International Women's Day

Today is International Women’s Day, and I’m writing this from Hanoi.

For many years I dreamed about doing a solo trip like this.

But life had other priorities.

Motherhood.

Building a home.

Building a career.

Then building a business.

Each time the idea of travelling alone appeared, it quietly moved down the list.

Twenty-five years later, I finally said yes.

Today was a beautiful, slow day here in Hanoi.

A morning walk through the streets.

A strong Vietnamese coffee and a simple breakfast.

A comforting bowl of soup for lunch.

I visited Hoan Kiem Lake and watched the city move around me.

Later, I treated myself to a long aromatic massage.

The photo I’m sharing was taken right after that moment. Relaxed, calm, and present.

Tonight, I’ll wander through the night markets and see what the city reveals.

But what makes this trip special isn’t only the place.

It’s the experience of being here in my own company.

For many strong, independent career women, life becomes full of responsibilities and achievements.

We build homes.

Care for families.

Show up for work.

Create businesses.

And somewhere along the way, we forget that we are also allowed to simply be.

Here in Hanoi, there are no routines waiting for me.

No responsibilities calling my name.

Just the quiet space to move through the day as myself.

And in that space, I was reminded of something important:

Home is not a place.

Home is something we build within ourselves.

When a woman feels at home within herself, the world becomes less intimidating.

She doesn’t rely on external comfort to feel safe in her life.

She carries that sense of home with her wherever she goes.

On this International Women’s Day, wherever you are in the world, I hope you take a small moment that belongs only to you.

However you celebrate it.

Happy International Women’s Day.

Sending this reflection from Hanoi.

With love Rosheka
